It could not in the end convince the WTO officials of the sincerity of its claim of moral high ground. Judegment was given to the small countries that had filed the complaint and since that ruling more small countries have also filed complaints.
It seems not even old George Bush who found a way into office not once but twice by what many consider questionable means … could smooth talk the WTO into believing that the U.S. truly believed it was unethical to gamble online at off-shore casinos but okay to place bets on the horse races. The real truth of the matter is the same as it has always been regardless of the “where”, and that is its all about the money. The United States hardly gave internet gambling a second thought for years until it grew to a size that the money going off shore and not being taxed grew into such a size as to gain notice. Then it became something from which the people needed to be protected because it was easier to make that claim than to get laws passed which would openly allow internet gambling, and the taxes therefore regulation … that would come with making internet gambling legal.
There is just enough of a collection against gambling for their own personal moral values … to make it an unpopular agenda for a politician to push, regardless of whether it is better for the community in the long run. No politican wants to be saddled with a reputation of supporting gambling (in fact some base their campaigns on moral ethics such as banning gambling and other such vices) but history has proven that prohibition does not work and most politicians know that too … so they leave the issue alone. What concerned the government officials most however is the bleeding of money out of the country with no benefit and that is the truth of the matter and continues that way to this day. One other side note worth mentioning is that the Senator who introduced the bill to make it illegal for banking institutions to allow gambling transactions in the United States … accepted donations from a gambling entity: yep, you guessed it, the horse racing association.

There are many slot machines in the world but they basically break down to two kinds of slot machine games, I guess three if you throw in the ones that don’t ever pay or that seldom pay. I’m sure they exist and likely in larger numbers and locations than would please most of slot gamblers.
The first of the two slot machine games is the first kind that came out which involved actual reels that spun and if they stopped in a winning position they unlocked a spring which dropped out the jackpot. This would be what you would call an all or nothing slot machine and it was eventually upgraded to have different sized payouts depending upon where the reels stopped.
This was all great except that the machines weren’t providing enough excitement to keep some of the players effectively entertained so they’d want to spend longer periods of time gambling. Eventually came the second type of slot machine game some time after they changed over from having actual reels inside them to having computer chips using a computer program first created for video poker games which is called a “random number generator”.
This new computer program made many new things possible in the world of slot machines because where there once was a limited number of possible winning positions for the slot reels to land, … now existed literally an infinite number of ways to get money back to the players. These possibilities gave slot machine creators nearly as many avenues in which to take the future of slot machine play. The first problem was obvious and easily eliminated now that the slot machine games had become computerized. There weren’t enough wins to keep some of the players occupied happily over long stretches of time. They had already tried setting the old “reel” slot machines so that certain combinations paid back often, but because of the limited number of payout slots in the reels, only a limited number of small wins could be attributed to any one machine. That too, was no longer an obstacle. So they merely created many ways to win small amount pay-offs and the win combined with the variety of ways it happens was enough to satisfy the problem at hand.
The need to ever-increase the ways of keeping players happy has been recognized with new vigor and online casinos are leading the way in that aspect. Not only are they inventing new and exciting ways to get money back to the players but they have also added brand name themes to slot machine play taking following the lead set by the “Wheel of Fortune” slot that was introduced to land casinos some years ago. Now you can expect to find themes such as the ever-popular “Laura Croft: Tomb Raider” which now has released a second version said to re-invent slot machine play.

Jackpots happen all the time and in no rhyme or reason. As proof of this I offer the recent exciting news to come out of BlackjackBallroom.com, which just paid out a whopping five and a half million dollars to some lucky online player located in Finland. What’s amazing about this besides the incredible size of the jackpot is that just a couple months back the same casino paid out over three hundred thousand to another player located in Finland. If you take all the countries in the world and put their names in a hat, each country’s name allowed one time for each percentage of the world’s online gamblers that country represented … for Finland to have come up twice would have been nearly like finding a needle in a haystack.
As strange as it might sound, and however seemingly unlikely, odds are odds and if they say there is a chance it could happen … then that is exactly the matter. For instance you could hit the biggest jackpot on a slot machine game and turn around and hit the same thing again the very next spin of the reels because the odds say there is a chance that could happen.
Sadly it works both ways however and just as it is true that you could conceivably hit two top jackpots in a row on the same machine, so it is also true that you could conceivably sail right past the “due” point, not once, not twice, but on and on until you beat the odds, which will be the same every time regardless of how much money you have put into the slot machine. You will never get closer to winning at any time, no matter how much money you have lost or time you have spent towards that result other than you will have bought another chance at the same odds by spinning those imaginary reels one more time.
It was once perhaps a true statement to say a slot machine game is “due”, but any chance of there being merit to that statement withered on the vine and died the day slot machine games stopped using real “reels” and started using computer chips with screens that portrayed spinning reels.
